Judiciary under attack

"Pakistan's Supreme Court chief justice Ch. Iftikhar has been put under govt custody and is now being pressed to give resignation. He was called by president on Friday, 9th March and after the meeting govt. ordered his suspension which was changed later to non-functional status. President has sent a reference for mis-conduct and several others allegations against him in Supreme Judicial Counsel which will now decide if the chief justice is found guilty or not. "

According to the constitution, chief justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan is only answerable to Supreme Judicial Counsel and so he is not supposed to visit president even if he calls him. But the president in uniform has enough power to do so and unfortunately chief justice has given it his acceptance by visiting president this Friday.

All bar counsels have condemned the act and now protesting all over Pakistan. A group of justices from Supreme Court tried to meet him today but they were sent back by the security officials.
